John 14:5-6
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
- HINDUISM: Karma and Reincarnation.
- BUDDHISM: Denial of Self, becoming non-existent; ceasing to Desire and believing this denial will end all suffering.
- ISLAM: Mohammad is the last and final prophet; the Qur’an is the perfect revelation.
- NATURALISM: Irreligious, anything supernatural or metaphysical is outside the realm of evidence, purely an opinion, not a matter of fact.
They (the above movements) have accepted these beliefs as truths because of cognitive ease; what they are familiar with, accepting the beliefs of those around them, or accepting the belief of the masses rather than a choice made as an individual trying to know the truth and brave the isolation.
The above movements or religions have beliefs or truths that they accept and adhere to or they do not or will not exist. The “world” accepts these and even draws upon what they believe to be strengths found within each of the above or from all for some individuals.
The “world”, or the movements listed above, question the beliefs of Christians as found in John 14:5-6, which states Christ is the way, truth, and life providing the only means to “come unto” the Father.
We alone are questioned because of our belief (Christian) that Jesus Christ is the consummate experience of God in the person of His Son, the Savior and Redeemer of the world.
We alone are asked to prove what we believe, why we know and accept, and the merits of Jesus Christ as the only way to God the Father.
Can we sustain by argument these questions?
Can we prove by evidence our beliefs?
John 18:37-38 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?
So, what is Truth?
Truth, by definition is exclusive (defined as, Quality or State of Being True).
Everything cannot be true.
If everything is true… then nothing can be false.
And if nothing is true… then it would be true to say everything is false.
We, cannot have it both ways!
So, we should not be surprised at the claim or question of exclusivity for TRUTH.
To believe or support that all statements of truths or beliefs are to be held equally does not apply to the reality of “life and choices” to be lived and made. Two contradictory statements or beliefs cannot be true, a choice must be made. To live our individual lives in pursuit of an eternal goal of life eternal, the Path of Truth must be chosen and adhered to at all times. A “Walking Stick” has two ends, both ends cannot embrace the path or be held by the humble follower of Christ; one end is to be chosen to cling to and the other adheres (by the Word) to the path leading onward to life eternal.
If Truth is to be claimed, each that follows Christ must test the Truth to Believe and accept. If the test demonstrates Truth, then we are compelled morally to believe, follow and testify.
“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting, It has been found difficult, and left untried.”
– G.K. Chesterson 1874-1936
John 14:6 Way – Truth – Life
Apply the tests of truth to the person and message of Jesus Christ, you will find and see He is the only Begotten and only Way to the Father.
Alma 3:82-84
Even so according to the spirit of prophecy, which is in me, which is also by the manifestation of the Spirit of God, I say unto you, that I know of myself that whatsoever I shall say unto you concerning that which is to come, is true, And I say unto you, that I know that Jesus Christ shall come; yea, the Son, the only begotten of the Father, full of grace, and mercy, and truth. And behold, it is he that cometh to take away the sins of the world; yea, the sins of every man who steadfastly believeth on his name.
